Less stock, smaller footprint

Direct dropshipping structurally removes intermediate warehouses. By design, Sellavi is more ecological.

Last updated: May 11, 2026

The Sellavi model, built on direct dropshipping, structurally removes most of the carbon footprint of a classic e-commerce site. By design, it is more ecological. But we want to go further than passive reduction.

Why the Sellavi model is greener

Zero intermediate warehouses

In a traditional e-commerce chain, a product goes through 2 to 4 warehouses between the manufacturer and the end customer: brand warehouse, regional logistics hub, national hub, final carrier. Each step consumes energy (cooling, handling, lighting) and adds hundreds of kilometers of transport.

With Sellavi, the product travels directly from the supplier to the end customer. No intermediate storage, no transshipment, no double packaging.

No unsold overstock

Sellavi sellers don't buy speculative stock. They list products that already exist at our suppliers and only pay once the customer order is placed. Zero dormant stock, zero end-of-season destruction of unsold goods.

According to ADEME, the traditional e-commerce industry destroys or recycles roughly 10 to 15% of its unsold products every year. The Sellavi model structurally avoids this waste.

Fewer kilometers traveled

Based on our internal estimates (to be validated by an independent LCA audit in 2026), a product bought via Sellavi travels roughly 40% fewer kilometers than a product bought through classic e-commerce, thanks to the removal of logistics centralization steps.

What we do on top

CO₂-offset shipments since 2024

Since January 2024, 100% of shipments processed through Sellavi are CO₂ offset. We work with a specialized partner funding certified carbon capture projects (Verified Carbon Standard and Gold Standard programs).

Offsetting is included in the Sellavi subscription price; no surcharge is billed to the seller or the end customer.

100% European hosting

Our technical infrastructure is entirely hosted in the European Union:

  • Database and backend: Supabase EU (Frankfurt datacenters);
  • Frontend and CDN: Netlify EU (preferred European points of presence);
  • Transactional emails: European provider (Mailjet/Postmark).

European datacenters use on average 30 to 50% more renewable energy than their North American counterparts (source: Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact).

One tree planted per annual account

For every new annual subscription, Sellavi funds the planting ofone tree through our reforestation partner, in forest restoration projects in France (Cévennes, Auvergne) and the Sahel.

What we don't do (yet)

To stay honest, here are the current limits of our commitment:

  • No independent LCA audit to date. Our figures (−40% km, 100% CO₂ offset) rely on internal estimates. An external audit is planned for 2026.
  • No direct control over supplier packaging. We encourage our partner suppliers to use recyclable, minimal packaging, but we don't directly control their choices.
  • No marketplace dedicated to eco-responsible products to date. We're considering launching an 'eco-responsible products' filter during 2026.

Our conviction

E-commerce cannot be sustainable if it keeps pushing overconsumption. But it can become less harmful by removing structural waste: overstock, mass returns, redundant warehouses, forced 24h deliveries. Sellavi doesn't claim to be a 100% virtuous commerce player — we claim to be less polluting than the industry average, and we're working to prove it with numbers.
